ODDS RPG assumes active, fiction-first play.
Only roll when failure matters.
Setting Target Numbers
Easy 8 Standard 12 Challenging 15 Hard 18 Extreme 22
Increase TN when:
- Time pressure exists
- Environmental danger
- Opposition is elite
Encounter Balance
Balanced:
1 standard enemy per player
Hard:
2 minions per player OR 1 elite per 2 players
Boss:
1 boss per group
Use: enemy_builder
Using Complications
On Natural 1:
Introduce:
- Collateral damage
- Escalation
- New threat
- Lost resource
- Reveal hidden enemy
Complications should push story forward.
Pacing a Session
Act 1: Hook & investigation Act 2: Rising conflict Act 3: Major confrontation Resolution: Consequences & reward
Rewards
Use Milestone advancement.
Optional rewards:
- Wealth increase
- Faction reputation
- New contact
- Unique item
